CHRISTMAS PARADE

Theme: “Celebrate JESUS –The Prince of Peace!”

This invitation is extended to you to join us for the 2010 Christmas Parade “SPECTACULAR”, Friday evening, November 26, 2010.  This event, to be held in conjunction and cooperation with the lighting of Granbury’s Historic Square for the Christmas season, reminds us of the Greatest Gift ever given and “the real reason for the season”.

Each year our parade has grown in participation and in the number of spectators viewing the parade! Last year’s estimate was more than 10,000 spectators. The Historic Granbury Merchants Association [HGMA} and the Lake Granbury Ministerial Alliance [the Alliance] hope you will be a part of this year’s event. Please fill in this form and mail it to:

AWARDS:
Trophy/Ribbons will be awarded in the following categories:

 Best of Parade      Best Use of Theme       Best Use of Lights       Best Youth Entry

RULES:
1) Floats must be lighted (for night-time viewing- “OVER-LIGHTED” IS BETTER).
2) Commercial entries must follow the “theme” of the parade for that year (i.e. No “eat at Joe’s”—nor “vote for…”), but you may display your Business’ name on your entry.
3) Entries must be no more than 14’ tall, and be able to navigate (max. 30’ trailer) the parade route-especially around the historic square.
4) The Alliance and HGMA reserve the right to refuse any entry deemed inappropriate.
5) “Santa Claus” (including “Mrs. Claus” and/or Elves) may not be depicted on any float.
6) Candy, leaflets or other advertising are not allowed to be handed or thrown from parade entries.
7) It is important to keep floats lighted through the entire parade route until you return to the Parade Grounds.  As you leave the parade grounds following the parade…please clean up any animal renderings or trash left from your entry!  Thanks!  If this is not heeded, we may have to begin to charge an entry fee…for cleanup.
8) Park your floats “ONLY” in the parking lot—Automobiles should be parked elsewhere, please.
9) Attention Equine Entries: To participate in the parade, you will be required to include with your application, a current negative Coggins test report.  All reports must be within date—no out of date forms will be accepted.  All equine entries will be checked. Following the parade, we also strongly request that you “Scoop the POOP” – please see that your area is cleaned up.  Thanks so much!! See # 7 above.
 

PARADE SPECIFICS:
The Parade will line up and be judged on the parking lot of the GISD Administration Building, on the corner of Pearl St. and Hannaford St.
Please be at the GISD parking lots at the times stated:
        5:20 pm – 5:50 pm   Check-in and receive parade number
        6:00 pm – 6:30 pm   Time for Judging—All participants must be with their entry
        6:50 pm – 7:00 pm   Parade Step-off.  Please maintain an even and steady flow
                                  with the rest of the parade.

Release
The participants do hereby release from all liabilities and responsibilities, the City of Granbury, County of
Hood, State of Texas, Historic Granbury Merchants Association, Lake Granbury Ministerial Alliance and all
individuals connected with the Country Christmas Celebration and the lighted Parade from any and all
liabilities arising from transactions and occurrences at the said event, and agree to hold such parties
forever harmless.  I have read the above rules and agree to comply with them.
